Two years today since the devastating flood of 11 January 2011

Goodna from the air during the January 2011 flood.

It is two years today since the Brisbane and Bremer Rivers broke their banks, pouring untold misery into Ipswich, Goodna and Brisbane.

The people of Greater Goodna - including the adjoining and nearby suburbs of Gailes, Redbank and Riverview - have largely tried to move forward from those fateful days.

The help our community received from the people of Queensland and other parts of Australia will never be forgotten.

Not everyone has overcome the heartbreak and despair which unfolded on Tuesday 11 January 2011.

But time is a great healer and the community spirit of the people of the Goodna area has ensured that we have become a stronger community.

But many people are still hurting, personally, emotionally and financially.

If you become aware of someone still in need, lend a hand or at least a sympathetic ear.

And pause for a moment today to remember what the 600 flood victims went through exactly two years ago.
