BRISBANE'S brimming dams are set to be held at near capacity through Queensland's impending wet season, reversing an order to lower them to 75 per cent as a safeguard against flooding that devastated the capital early last year.
Premier Campbell Newman said yesterday that Bureau of Meteorology forecasts of a dry, hot summer -- under the influence of an expected borderline El Nino weather pattern -- made it likely Brisbane's principal "flood shield" of Wivenhoe dam would not be drained, even though it is 99 per cent full.
